Givvy FAQs

What is Givvy?

Givvy is a platform that gives you a new way to donate to your charity of choice. It allows you to raise more awareness for charities through your social media network, and make every donation have a bigger impact.

What am I agreeing to when I authorise my Facebook account?

You’re allowing Givvy to share a single message on your behalf. This is only the case when you click the button on the campaign page to support with Facebook. After the campaign is complete, we won’t post any additional messages.

Are donations tax deductible through Givvy?

Absolutely. All charities on the Givvy website are tax deductible and have DGR (Deductible Gift Recipient) status. Givvy will provide you with tax receipts for your records. Your tax receipt will be from Givvy on behalf of your chosen charity.

Can I donate to more than one charity?

Of course you can! It’s simply a matter of either creating several Givvys through the ‘Start a Givvy’ section on the website, or choosing to pay with Givvy through the website of your chosen charity.

Does all my donation go towards my chosen charity?

Givvy does take 2.5% from your donation, however this small fee then goes towards supporting the yourtown charity. Givvy is a platform managed by yourtown which enable charities to increase their awareness and endorse their supporters as social network ambassadors.

How do I share my Givvy through social media?

When you are creating your Givvy you will be prompted to login with Facebook for your last few steps. Once your Givvy is complete you will be prompted to share your Givvy to your Facebook page to start spreading awareness through your social networks.

Can I create my own Givvy?

Absolutely. To start creating your Givvy, select ‘Start a Givvy’ at the top of the Givvy website. From here you’ll go through 4 steps to set up your Givvy and then a couple more to put it live! It’s as simple as that.

How long does my Givvy last?

Your Givvy will last for a total of 7 days. During this time you will receive emails from Givvy providing you with updates on your progress.

What happens if I don’t get enough likes to reach my goal?

Your donation goal is the maximum amount you are willing to donate towards your chosen charity. Say you pledge $50 and only get 30 likes on your Givvy, you will have the choice at the end of the 7 days to donate your goal amount (e.g. $50) or donate the equivalent number of likes you received on your Givvy (i.e 1 like = $1).

What happens if I get more likes than my goal amount?

Your goal amount is the maximum amount you are willing to donate to your charity. If you receive more likes than your goal amount (e.g. if your goal amount is $50 and you receive 70 likes) you will not have to donate more than the donation amount you pledged.

What does my ‘impact’ mean?

When we talk about your impact, we are referring to the reach your Givvy has within your social network. For every friend that likes or supports your Givvy, it will become visible in their friends’ newsfeeds and therefore you are creating a bigger impact and awareness for your charity.

The impact of a Givvy is the amount donated to the charity + 20c per social engagement. 20c is the estimated value of an engagement in terms of awareness raised. The impact generated by any inspired Givvys is also added to the original Givvy.
